why dont you try traction bars. they dont cost much and can be found at any local auto parts store

DO NOT TRY TRACTION BARS!!! the cheap units you find on the shelf at your local Auto Groan are too short for out trucks! the snubber will hit in teh middle of the spring, causing the spring to flex there. hittin the spring too many times will break it at the contact point. ideally, you want the snubber to hit the spring eye in the front spring hanger, as that's where its strongest.

are you 100% sure your "stock suspension" hasnt been modified by wear and tear? sloppy bushings will definitely cause that rear uend to shift around. i have torn apart 3 frames in the last 6 months, ranging from 77-82, and none of them had good leaf spring bushings or shackle bushings. IMO, i would check there first. you've probably got a problem there, if not, check your pinion angle as that will cause a hop too. if your problems still persist, THEN try traction aids.

i would recommend changing rear suspension to either ladder bar or 4 link. best way to improve traction on a leaf spring vehicle, in my opinion.
