4x6 HID's?

I want to get my dad a set of HID's for his birthday for his burb. It has the 4 headlight setup. What exactly do I need? I'm not sure because of the High/Low setup. Thanks, Bradley

Are they the rectangle sealed-beam lights? If so, you'd have to get a set of 4 of the H4-ready housings:

A pair of the bi-xenon HID bulbs with the ballasts:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/55W-B...Q5fAccessories

And another pair of regular HIDs for the "high beams"
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HID-C...Q5fAccessories

I guess you could just get 4 of the same Bi-xenon HID bulbs, so all 4 would be a high and low beam. The only issue you're going to run into is that there is a few seconds of warm-up before the bulbs are really "on", so using a separate set of HID bulbs for high beams wouldn't really let you flip them on and off as oncoming traffic approached until they got warmed up. The BI-xenon bulbs should overcome this.
There was a recent thread on the HID setup somewhere, but I don't know how it ended.

wel, first question would be:
- what do you mean by 4x6 HID's.

If you mean projectors using real Xenon bulbs...then there are a couple I found so far:
these: expensive baby's
http://www.brightheadlights-hid.com/...ghts-x4656.htm
http://www.spitzkraft.com/pics/products/XP4656-S/01.jpg

of these used in Pontiac Firebirds (also 4x6)

or these:

the first two are bi-xenon as far as I know, So Hi and Lo in one unit. The last one is just Low beam.

Dont buy the EBAY crap. they suck mucho....Blu'Burban on this forum also found this out himself.

well that depends all upon why you wanted to give your dad some 4x6 HID.

what are you hoping for?

- bright lights?
- supreme light pattern and shap cutoff

the first can be done buy quality clear lens 4x6" housings and good quality xenon bulbs. but will give you glare!

the second can be done with the options I gave you or retrofitting some yourself.

I thought you couldn't replace the bulb in a seal housing? I thought you had to replace the whole thing.

You get conversion housings. Best ones are Hella 003177862. DONT get those cheap ass projectors you see everywhere. If you insist on projectors you have to make your own to be good. Also HIDs will be fine in these housings IF they have a bulb deflector AND you properly AIM them afterwards. I got HIDs in a lifted Silverado HD and NEVER been flashed. I aim them correctly.

yep you are correct... i aimed mine right and i can see amazingly with them and i have never been flashed.... i second what your saying do NOT buy those cheap projectors housings... but i can not tell you to stay away from ebay HID kits bc that is what i have in my car and my truck.... i payed 35 bucks for the whole kit... the ones in my car ive had going on 4 years now and the ones in my truck 6 months... if you want pictures of the ones in the car i can put them up. i can also show you the guy i buy my kits from if you would like
