Should i repair my cab or replace it?
on the left side of my truck where the lower hinge is bolted it looks like it was warped or something. It has body filler there and is not flat, the hinge has shims behind it. I have not been able to get it straight to line up the body lines. could i have that area cut out and another one put in? Or should i find a new cab,the cab is in good condition apart from that. No rust
the area is right behind the lower hinge but on the left side. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...ider/005-2.jpg |
Re: Should i repair my cab or replace it?
You said the left side is damaged, but show a photo of the right side? Am I missing something?
Hinge pillars are fairly easy to straighten, especially with the hinge bolts and a big slide hammer. |

If its rust free, then fix it. If you aren't capable of the work then get a pro involved.

I would almost kill for a rust free cab that just had a couple dents in it. I say fix it.

Yeah the pic is of the right side. I don't have one of the left side but I wanted to show the area I was talking about. I wasn't sure if that area could be rpaired. Once I get I running again ill take it to some body shops for a quote.

Re: Should i repair my cab or replace it?
You can section just a portion of the hinge pillar, and that is an area that is usually rust free, so you could probably luck out and get a used chunk off a rusted cab for real cheap.
But a photo of the actual damage would be very helpful in terms of telling you if it can be fixed or not. |
