I did a post recently looking for information on wheels and what rally wheels would fit our trucks. I learned that the rallys from 73 to 87 from 4WD trucks have the bigger hole in the center (and the same bolt pattern) and would work. If that's the case, wouldn't any aftermarket wheel that fits the 73 to 57 4WD also have the big center hole and fit on our trucks as well?

I would assume yes. Even Nissans have the same 6-lug pattern from the 9o's era trucks. You need a 3.5'' centerbore IIRC for drum/rear hubs.

Back when I still had 6-lugs I put a 16" Toyota PreRunner wheel on my 66 just for fun…

I have fitted 73-87 15X8 rallye wheels onto my 64 gmc.... I also have put chrome oem 20's off of a 2005 tahoe on it as well and both of them fit....

All aftermarket 6 lug wheels (6 x 5.5" b.c) will be drilled for the larger hubs. They are done this way so that there is still room to install a push through center cap with enough room to still clear the hubs.

The biggest issue you may find (with aftermarket aluminum wheels) is that there is not enough wheel stud sticking through to get sufficient thread engagement from the lug nuts. For this I highly recommend the "ET" style lug nuts.

That's a good point, the 73-87 rallies were fine but the 20" wheels, the studs were too short, I could only get half of a nut which I dont think is safe. You would need longer studs due to the wheel offset.

The general rule of thumb is and equal amount of thread engagement to that of the diameter of the stud.

7/16" stud? 7/16" of engagement.

The offset doesn't affect how much stud sticks through the wheel; it is because of the thickness of the hub flange on the alloy wheels (specifically cast wheels).
