Front drop questions...

I have put 3" drop springs on the front of my 67. I then put a 72 front crossmember so that I could have 5 lug disc brakes on the front. My question is this...Once I got the springs in, if I jack the front end up the springs arent tight, they move around in the cup when the front is jacked up on a jack. Is there a way to correct this without lowering the truck anymore? Do the drop spindles correct this without lowering the truck anymore? I really dont want the front any lower but I dont like the fact that they are loose....

The problem that you are having is why I do not advise anyone to install anything more than 2" front drop springs. There isn't any way to correct it other than to go to, two inch. Another problem you will experience is when going up a curb, your front end articulates. That opens up the spring pocket and alows the spring to move. Then you hear popping noises untill the spring seats itself again. WES

If I went with 2" drop springs, and maybe 1" drop spindles would that get me the 3" drop on the front and correct the problem? I really like the stance of the truck right now, but dont want the issue that you describe...

You can only purchase 2 1/2" drop spindles. So if you purchased 2 1/2" drop spindles and installed 2" drop springs, that would give you a total of 4 1/2" of drop. That is as mutch as I would do with springs and spindles. WES

So I take it then that there is no way to only get 3" of total drop? I am not sure that my 20" rims will fit under the front end and turn from lock to lock with 4.5" of drop...
