tow hooks

I have three sets of tow hooks for the 73-80 series. I want to mount one set, if possible, on the rear of my 83 one ton dually. Is this feasible?

I have the rite set (offset) for the front end.

One option for having a rear tow hook rather than permanently mounting a set would be a receiver hitch hook set-up. Simple and if anyone rear-ends you...well you do the visual.

Just a suggestion. I agree having a rear hook or something to hook on to can be handy so long as it doesn't rip what it's attached to the truck apart. ;)

You can also just stick the factory 73-80 hook in the receiver and put a bolt or pin thew it...I've done this many times

If you have enough area in your sidemounts of the hitch I do not see a problem.

I'm planning on using some factory S-10 hooks from an 89 I bought new. They are a lot smaller and have an actual left and right with a slight bend.

Amything you want to do is feasible. Drill some holes on the rear frame horns and bolt them on. Its that easy reuse or replace the original hardware with the same graded bolt. Thats all there is to it.

The receiver hitch thing isn't feasible, as I have a drop hitch on the 1 ton. All info is appreciated tho. It looks like the frame mount mite be the only option I have.

Thanks again for the info.
