It looks like at some point that truck must have some body work donew with a aftermarket hood not a oem gm hood there is differences in the oem hoods and the cheep overseas aftermarket hoods. get out your 1/2 inch wrench and start adjusting those front fender bolts to adjust it correctly

Test fit the cowl panel behind the hood and see how that matches up too. it looks like the hood is bowed up too much in the center. The cowl panel will tell you if the hood is the wrong shape.

Re: different 81-87 hoods

Check the hood and the radiator support against the lower valance below the grille, as far as I know, they should all run in parallel with each other. try the grille in the hole, if it fits good, its the hood. if it doesnt fit, the core support needs to be adjusted. Either the radiator support or the hood needs to be bent to fit.

I forgot too, all the hoods are the same for all square bodies from 81-87 (91)

I think the hood latch needs to be lowered down to pull down the middle or the rad aupport top plate needs bent up.

glad to se it worked out for ya.

every piece on every truck is a bit different, everyone bashes aftermarket stuff because of alignment issues, but you can get stock gm stuff, nos or whatever and it still not fit your truck perfect.
