Two Blower Motors?

I have a 1986 K30 Custom Crew Cab Ex-Air Force that is confusing me. On the environment selector controls across the top it has three words “A/C HEAT DEFROST” bottom “COLD HOT” and then the speed control switch to the left.

It has a dash with A/C vents located in the standard places (two in the dash pad, two in the dash bezel)

It has the standard blower motor mounted out on the firewall in a “non-A/C” type box. It also has a blower motor located in the right side area of the glove box. The A/C evaporator is in the hard plastic vent area with flex tubes going to some locations.

Has an aftermarket type A/C compressor and condenser mounted on the engine and in front of the radiator.

When I turn on the blower speed control in the A/C position it turns the blower located in the glove box area, move the selector to HEAT/DEFROST and it turns off the motor in the glove box and turns on the one located on the firewall.

The truck also has the standard “VENT” pull knobs located in the foot wells.

Has anyone seen this configuration before? Someone spent a longtime and cash to set it up this way, I just don’t know why??

Any ideas?
