What I have here is a 63 C10 with a 350sbc, saginaw 4 speed, short wheel base, fleetside. the truck was purchased in Lenexa,KS last October and i have loved every second in it. My wife found the truck online while i was trying to sell my 08 Subaru STi and looking at an 06 G35 Coupe. She thought it would be nice to have a family project that we can all get involved in. What a great woman. We sold the STI bought the C10 and drove it home that day!

FUTURE PLANS
Rear end swap- i found a 12 bolt 6 lug from a 70 C10 with 3.07s near by for $225 so i'm gonna check it out and possibly buy it

Seats- i found a nice 40-20-40 set up http://www.discountvantruck.com/truc...seatsLotus.htm
In bed fuel tank

Updated wiring- unsure which brand to go with
Engine- probably a built 350

a few pre Christmas gifts makes for a fun weekend
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...0/DSC01955.jpg

the engine and trannny need a little lovin due to some leaks but i am considering swapping out both maybe a built 350 and richmond tranny.... i am not sure but it will be later down the list

i am very fortunate to have a wife and son that are car crazy and enjoy modifying/restoring and generally doing anything to vehicles.

a Christmas gift from the wife... new powdercoated tailgate chains
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...0/DSC02060.jpg

so far i enjoy the truck. there are few things i am concerned about. the brakes suck, the tranny leaks, rear main leaks, the entiire front end is shot (bushing wise)however... the wife and son are real big into the "project truck" so when we get our tax money i have an order in waiting to CPP for their 4 wheel disk brake kit, front end rebuild kit, sway bar kit, and a few odds and ends pieces. i think the total was around $3500 bucks and i still have to buy new wheels and tires....... it never ends

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project

i forgot these... when i added the fan (2800cfm and 14 amps) the alternator couldnt handle it. it only put out 44 amps so the fan, lights, and heater wouldn't all work at the same time. that is when i ordered and installed this
a 100 amp p'coated alternator from summit, with brackets.
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...0/DSC02074.jpg
it was on a 1 wire set up but i didnt like that. i converted it to a 3 wire and used the "Generator" light as an idiot light. it all works very well
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...0/DSC02075.jpg
here is the shifter that replaced "frank"

I like your truck.
What's the plan for the bed floor?

Let me know if I can help with your brake upgrades.

stealth_weapons 01-07-2011 07:17 PM

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project

not sure about the bed flooring. LMC is only 60 miles from i live so i might go back with a wood bed. i also considered having an aluminum bed put it. i really dont know.

I went to a business lumber supply company and bought pine for my swb fleetside, it cost $56.00 cut the lumber myself on a table saw with a dido blade, painted it with 3 coats of POR-15 and sprayed it with urethane black that was UV inhibited. Using all SS polished hardware and runners. Was a little work but it is going to look real nice when installed. Kieth :gmc2:

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project

Yesterday i went to LMC in Lenexa, KS and picked up a set of headlights to get rid of the sealed beam stockers.
here they are on the floor
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...0/DSC02086.jpg
here is one on the truck
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...0/DSC02098.jpg
here they are lit up (need night time pics)
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...0/DSC02100.jpg

i will get some before and after night time pics when i go to work tonight

the wiring was easy. LMC does offer a $35 harness......however, i chose to make my own as electronics dont bother me and wiring a simple relay is well.....simple. basically i have the same set up for a fraction of the price. 2 realys (one for low beam and one for high beam) some different colored wires (i keep this on hand) a few self tapping screws (on hand as well) and a few misc connetors and you are good to go

Got a visit from the "Brown" Fairy!!!
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...0/DSC02102.jpg
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...0/DSC02103.jpg
the parts list was as follows;
1 pr visors (forgot to add the visor bracket so they wont be in for a bit....oops)
1 blower motor resistor (installed... how nice it is to have 3 speeds instaed of just full blast)
1 set of tailgate trunions
1 hood brace sponge kit (installed)
1 window channel kit
1 dome light assy (installed... how sweet it is have a light on the inside now)
1 interior screw set
1 pr pivot bolts for tailgate chain
1 pr kick panel vent seals
1 pr of door check links (installed)

Thanks to my mom for the early 30th birthday present!!!

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project

S/W.......I recently installed some of the re-pop door checks and the quality really sucked. The original screws did not work so I tapped them and used some old valve cover bolts I had in the bolt bucket. ( I think 1/4-20 ???) You may want to check them out before trying to get them in.

Truck looks good and I dig the hotrod paint theme...:metal:

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project

Thanks for the heads up. i have no idea who the maker of door check link is. all i know is they were ordered from Brothers. lucky for me there is place right down the road called FASTENAL that has every nut, bolt, screw, washer known to man (maybe a slight exaggeration but they are dedicated just to fasteners) so i should be able to find something that will fit.

protrash64 02-04-2011 11:54 PM

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project

I think mine probably came from Classic Industries, but they're all from Taiwan or China. They mite have been metric:confused:.......anyway, the original screws bound up and wouldn't fit, so... just check before installing!!

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project

So today i went ahead and installed my domelight. i must say i was NOT impressed with the quality of the light housing. the plastic chrome was all kinds of scratched and it just looked cheap. i do however like having the interior light and the output is good.
i also installed the hood brace sponge pads, blower motor resistor, and window channel kit.

i was going to go ahead and do the kick panel vent seals but i don't own a rivet gun.

this is also a burden to me, the wiring in the truck is horrible.
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...0/DSC02114.jpg
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...0/DSC02115.jpg
i had to disassemble the headlight switch and clean it up because the domelight wouldnt turn on and luckily after i got done viola! it worked. however the PO did me no favors with the rats nest under the dash. i really need to buy a new harness for this thing.

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project

went to LMC for a few parts today.
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/DSC02729.jpg
i got 2 new door handles, sun visor brackets, and a new vent window handle assembly

the quality of these parts is good. there are a few blemishes in the areas that arent seen after the parts are installed, such as behind one of the door handles and on the backside of the visor brackets. other than that they look fantastic

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project

I finally pulled the trigger on a brake kit.
i ordered the following from POL;
Front disc brake kit (x-drilled/slotted rotors and 2.5 inch drop spindles)
Power Booster/Master cylinder
Prop valve
Front Sway bar w lowered brackets
Rear Brake rebuild kit
Tubular UCA/LCAs
Idler Arm
Pitman Arm

basically everything i need to completely rebuild the front end of the truck. i expect it to ship tomorrow and arrive around next Tuesday........ i cant wait to tear into the truck and get this party started
