Well I used to spend alot of time on the 67-72 board but I got rid of all those toys to build my new house. So this is my first toy since the house got done at the end of August 2010. Also picked up another toy too. But anyway here it is. Bone stock 1986 SWB C10. Now these are from when I got it and as I started to give it a bit of a shine.

Yeah already started on that!! lol!! I have a 16ft trailer I pull so I am only gonna lower it 3/4 I think and put some 18's or 20's on it. Would really like to stiffen the suspension up on it and make it handle a bit better then next winter drop a 6.0 LSx motor in it. Thats the general plan anyway. Till then its my daily driver.

looks pretty good. I like the velocity stack air cleaner it had on it, but the one you put on kinda suits it better.

Its practically impossible to go to the parts store and get an air cleaner thats not dished on the bottom. I had to put a spacer between it and the carb to get it to stand up some. Will order me a flat base and tall filter one of these days but for now it works. Main reason for changing the carb and cleaner is I drove it 30 miles to get tags on it from where i picked it up at and it drank almost half a tank. changed carb and its so much better now.

Re: 1986 swb

Well ordered a 3-5 lowering kit from summit so it should be here by the weekend. I also ordered a set of wheel adaptors so I can use the 338's off my vette. Pretty sure Im gonna canabalize it and part it out and use the rear end in my truck with a 4-link. This way I get my garage space back and a few extra bucks to put into the truck. Since I built the new house last year wife has come up with all kinds of projects to do to it so Im gonna be to broke to finish the vette anyway. So hopefull this weekend ill be putting up some pics of its new additude. Not that there arent a bunch on here that already look the same. Wish me luck or at least not too many busted knuckles.

Re: 1986 swb

Well been a few weeks so figured I would update. 3-5 DJM lowering kit done. Got rid of the vette but kept the rims and tires and my mosier 9" rear end. Eventually the rear end will make its way to the truck. Anyway Changed the valve covers fixed the temp sensor added a new MSD cap and rotor cause it was red like the truck changed the spark plug wires. Plugs looked new so left them in there.

Buddy of mine is parting out a 91 burb that was stolen and recovered with lots of stuff missing of course. So i nabbed a few thing off of it for the truck. I grabbed and electric speedo cluster for the eventual ls swap, The tail lenses which are decent but i need to polish them, and the front sway bar. I tried to talk him out of the front clip but hes using it for his truck.

Now for some pics. Got a couple threads on here with them but this is kinda my build thread so im updating it too.

Monte, I'm a Vette guy too. Currently 66, 67, 67 convertibles and a Z06.
Question, 3/5 kit with 3" DJM spindles, any issues with lower A-arms to stock 8" ralleys?
Thanks, Jeff

I have never been much of a vette person. I was looking for a drag car when i found this one and after awhile and alot of work i changed my mind about it. I kept the important parts rims and rear end and sold the rest. Putting my money in the truck for now till i get a shop built then ill get back into drag racing. Anyway as far as the rally's I hace no idea. I switched to 18's when i did my drop but i see alot of people on here run them so I would think it should be fine.

Thanks!! Its a 20 footer!! Paint is on the list for the summer possibly. Ordered a set of 2" spring for the front so that should put it where I want it. Then maybe ill do some motor work. The 350 that is in it runs decent and has great oil pressure so probably just gonna do a CDI ignition for now and rebuild the carb and let it go. I need an a/c compressor then my a/c would work too. that would be a first for me on one of my projects!! LOL

Re: 1986 swb

Well got some things to do this weekend. Should have a box from Summit with my 2" lowering springs and shocks patiently waiting on my doorstep for me to pickup. Then tomorrow I should have some engine goodies waiting on me in the same place. So plan for the weekend is replace my leaky water pump and do some engine cleanup and paint while I'm in there then rebuild my Edelbrock carb put the fancy chrome line and pressure gauge on it and throw in a Mallory ignition system. Then if all goes well with that throw my new springs and shocks on the front and get rid of the stock bump stops on the back that my axle is bottoming out on. Should make for a full weekend so wish me luck.

Re: 1986 swb

Looks like the springs and ignition are gonna have to wait for a couple weeks. Pulled almost all the trim off and interior out and loaded it up and took it to the paint shop today. Hopefully in a couple weeks It will be an awesome new color. Ill post more pics as they send them to me.

Rims are 20x10 rear and 18x8 front. They are the ones that came off the vette that i cant manage to find the center caps too. LOL. The tires are just some used ones i threw on when i had them on the vette to roll it around on and will be getting some new ones shortly.

Question on this subject... I am putting an ltx motor in my 86. On the 91 burb is the cluster the same except the speedo being electronic? Do you know what pulse it recognizes? I'm going to be using a 93 t56 m6 Thanks for your help
