Vortec Heads?

when was the first year for vortec heads? and does anyone know what casting numers i should look for or how to identify them as vortecs? thanks.

casting # 906 or 062 are the best.

the casting number for the 906 heads is 10239906. The 062 heads have a sawtooth pattern on the front.

Are vortecs the only heads with the eight intake bolts also?

yes, everything else has 12 bolts.

Correction, all vortec's have the sawtooth pattern. They are the modern day camelhump heads :)
