Well I 've got teh 68 torn down to teh frame. It started a 1968 GMC 3/4 ton 2wd. When I'm done it will be a 1968 1/2 ton coild truck, short box, 4/6 drop, 20's,surf blue,ls motor (not sure which one yet). Very excited to have finally gotten started on my baby. I bought this truck when I was 16 and still have it. Lots of time on a limited budget but here we go antway. Let'r buck!! This is my first build so any suggestions or feedback is welcome. Thanks!!:metal:

Nice project you have going on. We had four trucks apart at once. Biggest headache was keeping tract of hardware. Plenty of coffee cans for storage. The assy manual I seen in your pic will be helpful a digital camera could come in handy especially around the brakes and such. Good luck.

You mentioned brakes, the truck actually has drum brakes on it now and I have been on the phone talking to Early Classic on a Brake Disc Brake Conversion. I was also looking into CCP Brake conversions as well. Have you had any experiemce with either company's. ECE guys were very helpfula and seem to have a lot of informaton that they provided me with and had a bolt on kit that seemed pretty easy to handle.

Hey from N.C. the guys at ECE sold me all my suspension needs, i've had no problem with any of the parts & the tech information is very helpful, i agree it was simple & easy, i installed mine all by myself, if u have the right tools good luck, u have a nice project keep pictures of progress coming & Keep on Truckin'' :metal:

Hello all. Here is some pics after i cut the frame down from a longbox to a shortbox. I cut 12 inches out of the center under the cab and then 8 inches off the back. Then i put ome frame stiffners and grinded down the welds. Came out real good. Now the big question??? Do i blast the frame and powder coat it or paint it????? Guys that have done either can you give me some suggetions... I really want to powder coat but I'm not sure what's the pros and cons of both?

Hello All,

Just wanted to post a few more pics. Tore into the axle last night. This is a 12 bolt 6 lugger. It's a 6 lug axle, going to convert it to a 5 lugger, 3.73 Yukon Gears, and an Eaton Posi. It came apart easier that i thought it would. Gutting it to get it ready for the powder coater with the frame. More pics to come

it is cheaper for me to blast and powder coat than it is to blast and paint , i would powdercoat it
