Factory Slider Maybe ?

3 Attachment(s)
This slider is in the '70 Chevy 3/4 CustomCamper 20 I picked up recently for parts. There is nothing mentioned in the SIPD label but is it possibly the fabled "factory" slider? Glass is marked "Cal-Tuff" at stationary glass corners and marked "Safety Glass" along with some other numbers and letters? Did a search and a couple of pics I found look really similar but still not sure. Has Phillips screws at the top edge of the frame at the upright channel supports, pop rivets at lower corners, latch looks quite similar to those I found on the search. No trim around the outside rubber seal. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Re: Factory Slider Maybe ?

A factory slider would be listed on the SPID. They were not installed on the line, but on the factory lot post-production/pre-shipping. Other windows could be the exact same, just not factory if not listed on the SPID. They were commonly installed by dealers as well as truck outfitters and by owners. They were a hot item back then and they all pretty much looked the same.

Since it is not listed on the SIPD label even tho it is the same style or type as the listed "factory sliding window" it doen't qualify as a "factory slider" by reading your post. Think I will be keeping this one for my-self as a replacement for the after market slider I have currently in my '71 4x4.

Same same goes for 8 tracks. Also many trucks had am-fm radios installed at the dealers or owners as from 70 and before only am radios were avaliable. I think as long as it was a dealer options it's not a big deal when these type options are installed. JMHO

Very good point. Back in those days accuracy wasn't always job one.

Have people seen options left off? I hear people say they weren't accurate but I've never seen it. Dealers add parts from the parts department that are the same parts used on the assembly line. For that matter, any one of us can go buy the part or components to add a factory option.
