Subs vs pickups - differences?
 

Can you guys shed some light on what the differences are between subs and pickups? Aside from the obvious, are rears interchangeable, fenders, grilles, dashes, etc?

Any info is appreciated.

there is a difference in the way the window frames of the doors fit.Everything else you mention interchange.

Everything is interchangeable except for the frame, body (of course), and doors (i think).

The backup light lenses are different. I dunno about other lights, tho.

Define "interchangable". There is a guy in town that took off a '68 'burb body and put on a '72 pickup body. The only differences in frames are body mountings.

The front doors are unique, the edges are square at the top back of the window.

one has 2 doors .. the other has 3 plus the rear gate/barn doors. :D

i guess you could say that the front doors are interchangeable, if you have the top rear of the door from a truck you could cut and weld it on onto a burb and hve the same door, haha

I have a divine 69 lwb truck on a 71 burb 4x4 frame. I had to make 1 pair of mounts. That's it....Zoomy

Gosh guys, you forgot to mention one of the most posted topics.The fuel tanks are different, but will interchange with some mods.

Wiring harnesses!

The taillight harness runs through roof pillar and along roof to rear. The dash harness is slightly different because of this. You can interchage dash harnesses with a little splicing.

I believe they are like the trucks 2 wheel could be either,4wheelers are leaf.

I believe smokiki is correct, 2wd burbs could be had both ways. However, these were more transportation vehicles versus work vehicles and as such I'd be willing to bet the vast majority were coil spring for the ride comfort factor. I've seen several 2wd gmc's both 1/2 and 3/4 ton 2wd and all were coils as are all the chevys I've seen. Anybody have a 2wd leaf spring burb?

My 4X4 has leafs. Biggest difference is that there are less reproduction parts available for subs. i.e doors, rear fenders, especially trim pieces, rear interior panels, headliners. It means more searching for GM parts in junkyards which is more fun than buying repro anyway. I bought repro doors for a pickup and saved my old window channels and switched them. It worked great. The inner door is not an exact fit but close and better than rust!
