Removing bumper valence?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/DSCF5791.jpg
Ever since I lowered the truck, I seem to forget the valence is there, scraping stuff, especially when pulling into parking spots. As you can see, it's also not in the best of shape. Would removing this affect gas mileage much? |
Re: Removing bumper valence?
No you won't notice any difference at all

Re: Removing bumper valence?
mine looks way worse than yours!....IMO I wouldn't take it off, it makes the truck look lower than it is, unless you dont like that look! I wish I had a new one though.

Re: Removing bumper valence?
I'm going to put one on my truck. Well looking for a fiberglass spoiler actually, but without it, my truck looks like it's got an overbite. The bottom of the fenders ahead of the wells are higher than the bottoms behind the wheels and it kind of messes up the symetry of the truck.

Re: Removing bumper valence?
Except for cosmetics does this valance have any real value? Wondering because my 85 came without one but was pondering getting one to put back on.

Re: Removing bumper valence?
It's there to improve the aerodynamics of our beloved bricks. Its helps to improve stability, increase mpg.
If you really want one on a lowered truck, get a new one and run it through your table saw taking a 2" section off of the bottom. You still have the look, but not quite as low to the ground. |
Re: Removing bumper valence?
I took mine off and wish I still had it. I need to look for another one at the junkyard.
