what year for 1 wire alternator

Does anybody know what year GM went to the 1 wire alternator so I can pick one up at my local parts store

I don't believe that the one wire alternator was ever installed as
OEM. NAPA has them in this area.

I don't know about the one wire alt but the Delco integral alt with the built in regulator was introduced in 1973.

I work for auto parts store and the guy in the shop convets an EXCEL 7127-3 to a signal wire internally 7123S. It can be done externally by taking a wire from postive terminal to the b side of the double plug (futherist away). The 7123 style fits gm v8's 73-86. The single wire is commanly used by farmers on tractors because it is "self exciting".
