Soft vinyl tonneau on my '63 short Fleet side. No holes in the bed sides - the snaps are in a frame that clamps on the bed rails.

Here is mine. It is an Extang. No drilling, it tilts up with gas struts, and it lifts off easily for hauling big loads.

Check out this thread. It has the part numbers and info on other tonneaus.

Thats pretty cool, I may just have to built my own like that. And 62 Short Step, you sir have a beautiful truck! I wanna raise mine like that but mine's a 1/2 ton so it'll be alot more for me with the lift and tires and everything.

Here is my short step cover. From a 89 chev stepside. Used the expanding rubber plug anchors in the stack pockets. Only required a few mods to the frame, no mods to the cover itself.

I have one like this and like it, but thought about making my own hard cover.

I'm not sure which I like best, the hard top or soft top. Where I live with tree limbs always falling down it'd probly be best to have a hard. lol

Questioned this short time back as you get nothing here in OZ for less than $1200 then I came across this that I ordered this morning pretty cheap for you guys at $269 but it cost me an extra $248 in shipping I still came out cheaper than I could over here.
Its from Craftecinc.com have a look at there site more pics of this cover

Protrash, are there any numbers on your lid? like model numbers or anything? there are a bunch of hard covers on CL around here, I just dont know if they will fit.

Clyde.....not that I've seen. I would go by the bed size. IIRC these beds are almost 7'x7' off the top of my head.
I found mine specifically advertised for 60-66 trucks.

I love the idea of having a huge trunk and something to protect the wood but I don't like the look of them. I like my be wide open.

I wanted a roll up tonneau cover so I could use the bed if needed. Found Truxedo would build a custom cover for a short step bed, attaches and removes easily, velcro along the sides will keep it tight.
