it scrapes the curbside, cement or walls and makes a noise so you know not to go any closer or you risk damging your rims/tires.

They were more important with the white walls. People took care of their white walls back then like we take care of our wheels now. Back then white walls were the thing to show off, almost more-so than the wheels. Now we show off wheels, and the tires are more of an after thought to some.

When I was a kid my grandfather had them on a 57 Chrysler.
They work.... you parallel park and when you get close to the curb it rubs on the concrete... the sound resonates through the body panels... you'd be surprised just how loud the noise really is. Another old school cool antiquity item. Thanks for the walk down memory lane. PS: the way the ones are mounted in the video are pitiful. Mounted correctly they are not that noticeable, quite cool actually. |
