454 blowing blue smoke only above 3k rpm
I finally found a really cool 4*4 flatbed crew cab for work but the engine blows a lot of blue smoke but only above ~3k rpm. I took it for a test drive and through and on the highway it runs PERFECT, only blows smoke at high rpm. Owner said its been sitting on and off for a few years and once he drives it for a week or so the smoke stops? There is a little smoke on startup but not a lot, any ideas? Valve seals? rings? I did pull the pcv and it doesnt look like it is full of oil, let it idle with pcv out didnt see any smoke.
This will mainly be a big lot plow truck, and hauling small loads of rock, mulch, trailers etc... Oh the truck is an 89 tbi 454 |

it sounds like it could be pcv, but I am no engine builder. Maybe try pming BigBlocksRule. He seems to be pretty smart with the older big blocks.
