panel/burb wood floor
 

Has anyone he sanded/polyurathane the wood floors of their panel or burb here?also are the stainless strips available for these trucks too?any pics would be great!

Ive seen pictures of nice wood floors people have put in their panels and burbs. Looks real nice ... sorry I dont have any to post. Burbs just have a chunk of thick plywood in the back, no strips. Panels strips are longer than the truck bed strips. I inquired about getting them for my panel once and vendors said all they needed was the length I wanted and they could get em.

my guess is you might be able to adapt a:

short bed kit to a blazer or burb

long bed kit to a panel truck

I'll need to replace the wood in my Panel during my build. I wish I could figure out a way to laminate in some sound deadener. Something like 2 layers of 3/8ths plywood with Dynamat or the like in between.

I got my strips from LMC (the longbed strips and hardware), they worked. The wood was supposed to be marine grade plywood (needed to replace my original wood) but I chose "good one side" laminated oak and sanded/polyurathane the upper side and underneath just had it sprayed with black under-gaurd.

Thanks rob,that's more the look i want.My panel wood is in excellent condition,with a few goughes,in the rear by the doors.I sanded an area near the front and appears the wood is only top coated with the wolmanizing protectant.Now to buy a belt sander and wait for warmer temps.

That looks really good. I was told the panel strips were longer, its good to know they are just the same as the long bed trucks.

Anyone know where I can pick some up in a 15" wheel? Would love some on my 70 burb!

Did you think about trying lizard skin on the underside? I would like to do that to my burb.

That is certainly a thought. I need to do some more thinking about it, for sure. It's probably a year off before I get to that point.

While I haven't toren into the rearboards on my 69 panel I plan to go with soilid oak and polished ss ribs much like the upper end custom trucks.Wondering what problems I might be looking at with this. Ive been told its wood with play wood,right now its carpeted over and Ive been more concerned about getting matereails and parts for body work I know its going to need. IF the economy would get moving it would help speed it up a lot.
For now I'll keep sanding the body panel by panel and hope the bad stuff stays to minimum. Man we do this for the fun RIGHT?

Hey Robb 67. Can I get a Little more info from you about the metal floor strips? Are they long enough to go in one piece? Were the bolt holes in the correct location? My truck floor is done but I'm in desperate need of one more strip? Any help is really appreciated!!

hey John, yes the strips were long enough to be one piece and as for the bolt holes I remember they lined up pretty well but then again I was dealing with new wood and cross members and strips.....I remember lots of drilling but no major problems. I'm away from home for a bit but next time I'm home I can have a close look at the fit and see how close to the ends the strips fit but I think they're very close.

hey John, I was looking at the strips in the above posted pics and went to look at mine. I guess mine are a but different in that they stop a little short at both ends. I don't remember what they looked like before I changed them but I took a pic to try and show you the gap. Bottom pic is right behind the front seats. So I guess they are a wee bit short, unless that is how the originals looked?
