Question "2005 gmc z71 4 wheel drive"

1 Attachment(s)
i just today bought this truck. It is used with 64,000 miles with no warranty. After i drove it 10 mile to the house and picked up my things. I left headed to my daughters. Approx 3 miles from the house the check engine light came on. From what i can tell from the internet, i have to have a scanner to read the code. My question is: Do i have to have a scanner, or can a blink code be retrieved by crossing pins in the data connector?

X2,

Take it right back..... and be persistent about it.

And no, you can't jump pins on obd2 to pull codes

I just had basicly the same thing happen... Bought an 02 GMC Yukon XL with 73,000 miles on it Thursday, Friday evening the 'Service Engine Soon' light came on. Took it to Autozone and they pulled the code for free (Camshaft Position Sensor PO342), now have to get it fixed. Extremely frustrating! Let us know how it goes...

went sunday to the auto zone and the retrieved the code. it is for transmission. def: low tranny fluid, dirty tranny fluid, tcc solemoid or tcc bad connection. going to call dealership monday morning and see what happens from there

man i doubt with 64k mile theat the fuild is dirty unless it was abused and used for heavy towing

at this point not sure who is fronting the bill. since nothing has been said about it, i am assuming they are. in georgia once the paper work is sighned it is then the new owners responsiblilty for any repairs. if the dealer helps it is at their mercy to do so.
