Cam selection help
I am trying to nail down a good cam for my build. I am looking at the Texas Speed Torquer V2 (232/234 @.050" .595/.598) and I have a choice of 112, 113, or 114 lobe seperation. What seperation should I go with? Does this sound like a good cam? I am going to keep the stock Truck intake for the time being and upgrade it later on down the line to a Vic Jr w/elbow or Pro-Flo XT. Help me Please!!

Re: Cam selection help
It's a very good cam with supporting mods (headers, gears, convertor). Personally, I'd go 112 lsa for the idle.

Re: Cam selection help
The lower lsa will produce:
more overlap, rougher idle narrower power band but higher peaks at lower rpm decreased piston to valve clearance The higher lsa will produce: less overlap, smoother idle broader power band with slightly lower peaks but carry further past peak increased piston to valve clearance I personally like tight lobe separations on my n/a motors for the torque curve they produce. Re: Cam selection help
It sounds like a pretty good cam to me, but I don't know the specifics of your engine, ect. I would personally go with the 112 LSA like swb85 said, that way you get a nice sounding idle!!

Re: Cam selection help
The motor is going to be stock internally(rebuilt), Stock 317s, aftermarket intake, and headers with the supporting converter and gears. I will more than likely throw a 150 shot of funny gas on it when I go to the strip.

Re: Cam selection help
I called TSP when I was looking at the torquer and a few other cams. I asked pretty flat out; "I've got a stock 6.0, with larger injectors, and I'd like the most cam I can get without PTVC problems" After a few minutes discussing my goals (similar to yours, stock mostly with some juice possible in the future), and they suggested the Tsunami, in 111 LSA. Given, it may hump more than some like for street manners but its a hefty cam.

Re: Cam selection help
The cam is in the engine, but the engine is not yet in the truck. Its -3 WC here and we just got 20" of snow...haven't been to the garage in a bit lol.

Re: Cam selection help
Got a 111LSA in mine and boy let me tell you it sounds great. Power comes in very fast. Cam is listed in my sig. It will idle at 600 RPM in gear at 22 degres outside.
