dropping a 67
 

ok this is what i have..

1967 swb c10 i wanna drop it pretty low, 5/5 gonna put 255/35/20 tires in the front and 285/35/22 tires on the back polished boyd coddington rodders... i currently have drum brakes and want to switch to disc later on, but for now wanna drop it with the drum brakes...

this is what im thinkging of getting,

5/5 djm kit with upper and lower control arms, new shocks, and coils for the front and back.... this way i can keep the drop once i get disc brakes...

does this sound like a plan or do i have other options? or whats recommended? im sure i have other options.. i could do spinldes but i would have to convert to disc brakes..

also my truck is 6 lug and wanna keep it that way..

The dropped DJM arms have a sprig pocket in the lower arm that is a little too close to the ground for most poeple's liking. Depending on your road conditions, this might not be the best idea.

porterbilt... how hard is it to go to disc brakes from drum's in the front? i've seen alot of forums about people saying they have to get spindles, control arms, etc from other trucks? or is that just what they want? would it be cheaper to go to disc and use spindles and coil to drop it then it would be to get the djm kit which runs about 770 on ebay..

This is just my opinion.
You are spending a TON of money for wheels and tires.
You need to address the brakes first.
Changing to disc brakes is not a bunch of voodoo.
It's really easy,... now that the aftermarket makes "year specific" drop spindles.
You can now order drop spindles that are specific for your 67 model truck.
No ball joint change.
No tie rod change.
No a-arm change.

I'm not a big fan of the "drop pocket" design of the DJM a-arms,... because of the same ground clearance issues Porterbuilt describes.

Lolife is spot on. Changing to discs can be pretty straight forward these days. You can get drop spindles specific to the 67 and maintain all the current front end pieces (minus the factory spindles and drum brakes of course).

Hotchkis Drop Coils 4/6 any suggestions?

the front is a 4" drop coil while the rear is a 6" drop coil... what shocks would i use with it?

Dunno how they expect you to align the front with a 4" coil only drop. You WILL have camber issues without some sort of fix like longer upper arms, offset shafts, longer mounting studs, or some combination thereof...

I think they are designed to work with the Hotchkis tubular a-arms.
Maybe one of the guys from Hotchkis will chime in.

thanks guys, i asked the seller "Matts Classic Bowties" and he said its a direct replacement no mods needed. but im no to sure... since im new to the 67 truck's.. thanks again for your input..

you should look into CPP's Grand Slam- thats what I did. had to buy a few more parts from them to get the 5.5F/7R drop I did, but it was a good deal, and now I have power disc brakes up front, which are waaaay safer, along with a slammed ride :metal:
