Heim Joint vs Tie Rod Help!!
like it says I'm woundering how well Heim joints work on the street...
I was thinking that if I could flip to the top of my steering arm on the spindle I could gain more clearance |
Re: Hine Jopint VS tie rod Help!!
The quality of the rod end will determine the longevity and effectiveness of the swap. We have been using a chromoly rod end that is kevlar injected in our kits for years with ZERO complaints. They run about $30 a piece. Depending on the travel you are getting, it may benecessary to combine them with a cone spacer or high misalignment spacer to get the proper articluation without bind.

Re: Hine Jopint VS tie rod Help!!
sorry my truck is bagged ( and stuck in the garage under the snow bank) I think I need to switch it to the bottom since my truck is dropped.......how well do the joints adapt?? it seems that I am ( and others I'm sure) are having issues with tie rod angle and I thought this would be an easy solution??

Re: Heim Joint vs Tie Rod Help!!
Not to tuff. You need to drill out the tie=rod hole to fit a 5/8" bolt. I suggest removing the spindle to do this, It's important to drill this out square to the steering arm. We use a 'High-missalignment' rod end, to get more angle. A good quality rod end will be tight for about 20k miles. Plan on buying your truck a present every other Christmas.

Re: Heim Joint vs Tie Rod Help!!
thanx thats what I needed to hear!! I guess that I'm going to have to bite the bullet then since 20k isn't much for me and our roads are kinda ruff...I think it would be smarter to stay with a reg tie rod because of costs
