centering the axle on a flip kit without predrilled hole ??
my friend is doing a flip kit on his 87 chevy , he is using generic axle perches, he knows that the nipple on the leafs doesnt go in the middle hole(of the new axle perch or seat ) after a flip, but does the axle go forward or backwards and how much ?? 3/4 inch or an inch ?????

google DJM instructions for their flip kit... . But you are trying to move the axle back...so that means the hole goes forward....dont remember how much

I did mine from an axle purch from tractor supply ($10). Drilled a hole same size as the one it came with, and the spring plate cap 1" back. If I were to do it again I'd leave it centered and get the drive shaft shortened. It can make the wheel look too far back in the wheel well. I'm going to wait until I get the stepside bed on to see how it looks then, maybe adjust the bed back away from the cab.
