lowering question
 

ok so I have read alot and see that everyone says you can run stock front shocks on the rear but can you still use the factory front shocks on the front or do I need to buy drop shocks for the front. I have an 84 with 3 inch djm spindles and 1 coil cut. Any help would be appreciated!

1 coil cut up front will give an approximate 2"-2.5" spring drop.
I would run a drop shock up front.

From how i understand it, you can use the front shocks in the rear becase the fornt shock is already smaller than the stock rear and the mounts are closer in the front. Once you lower the rear you are moving the mounts closer which in turn compresses a stock rear shock to much and the fornt can be used back there. so the same would hold true for the front you would be moving the mounts closer and compressing it leaveing little to no room to travel. So i think you would need drop shocks in the fornt to retain some driveabilty.

perfect that is what I was thinking but never saw anyone mention what the had used on the front. anyone know if there is a stock shock from another application that works well with a 5 inch drop?

I put 2" drop springs from summit on the front, and their g7727 drop shocks on the front...their drop shocks were longer than my stockers!!! i sent them back, and got the summit g7728 shock, and they are 3/4" shorter (compressed) than my stockers...but it appears they make enough of a difference so that I don't bottom the suspension out on speed bumps...I was going to try the 4x4 shock mount, and hopefull move my upper shock mount up, but the summit g7728 seem to have been all I needed.
