Alright. Tires are done. Next project!! HEADERS!

Who has some suggestions for headers? I am going to wrap them before I put them on and they will run true duals into Flowmaster Super 44's with no cat. Any opinions? What brand sounds good...Holds up well...makes performance improvements...Pics welcome.

any specific reason why you want to run header wrap?

Unless you're a 2000hp car. I wouldn't run header wrap. Most of the lower end headers aren't made to handle the wrap and they crack and break.

Other than the better heat excavation it looks metal. That's about it really. Its all about keepin the temp down under the hood. Helps for intake as well. (Air temp) I've tried coating my headers before and did not get good results. So maybe some high temp paint as well as wrap will work. Ceramic headers would be nice but those are out of my budget at the moment...

i have Hooker Comps and i love them:metal: great sound and performance;) one thing i could tell you is no matter what kind of headers you get at one point you will say somthing like " these F*&^%*# P.O.S." the bolts always seem to be a pain to get in and the block to manifold gaskets will blow out more then with stock manifolds.. I have only had to change my gaskets once and i've had it two years, but my buddy has some Johny Tiwanies and he seems to go through gaskets like every three months.. Im a fan of the aluminim gaskets that are like doubled up, they are made to be reused.:chevy:

I had some Hedmans on a '79 K5 that I was happy with and they were very durable. They were on the truck before I bought it and were there when I sold it. Fit great and never rusted.

I had some Hooker Comps on a '65 Impala which I only drove once a year or so, but I definitely had to bang some tubes to get them to fit right. Also, changing plug access sucked.

If this truck is a daily driver, stay away from the header wrap. They trap in moisture and will rust your headers prematurely.

I have run Hookers on most of my trucks, my 73 now has Sanderson headers...I like them a lot more than the Hookers.

Sanderson, and wrapping them traps moisture from condensation when heating up and cooling down. The headers rust out much more quickly. You are just trapping the heat in them. Leave them unwrapped and let the heat and moisture dissipate.

That's good to know because right now it is. Perhaps ill just go with a temp coating...

^ Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

Don't use the wrap unless you're forced to. It works great for the turbo guys, they need all the help they can get and ceramic coating generally isn't enough.

Save your nickels and dimes until you can afford good ceramics.
