anyone live near kinsburg calif? broke down

I'm in Kingsburg California, 20 miles South of Fresno, off the 99 Fwy. In a store parking lot about to change a the starter. Autozone in same parking lot, they have one in stock. If its not the starter I have a back up plan - new rental burb beside me. If I need to get it towed, does anyone recommend or know where I can get it towed to have them look at it? Let's hope its the starter (I think it is, I've whacked at it but I think its fried).
Thanks in advance.

I work for Oreilly Auto Parts and we would test your starter. Maybe Autozone does also. I'd get it checked out. They should be able to test your battery for you also

Wish I was closer, but I sure hope you can take care of it with a new starter!

What happened? Parked, then wouldn't start?

(Update)
thanks again everyone for the leads and support. We made it to our destination, shaver lake (california). I had the wife, kids... when we broke down (sigh). we stopped to get some last minute groceries before heading up the mountain and when I went to start the burb to leave - click. Fortunately Autozone was within 50 yards of the grocery store. After trouble shooting and certain it was the starter, autozone had an AC Delco starter... for a big block. I was in luck. To top that a family friend about 20 minutes away came over to help. He's a mobile mechanic for big rigs. He shows up with a truck, generators, big box of snap on tools. We installed the new starter, checked the voltage on everything else- I was good to go! The burb ran excellent the rest of the way. We hit a big snow storm coming up the mountain, still snowing like crazy. But... we made it! Nothing like cruising past the Range Rovers (no joke) on the way up in the snow storm. Nothing beats a 67-72 burb, even when you run into a bit of a road block when on a road trip.

Great to hear you and the family were back on the road with just a quick fix!

That's awesome about pulling the mountains with snow, I can totally relate and feel the same way about the old burbs kickin butt. :metal:

We definitely need to get the SoCal guys to meet up.

I know it's a year later and I don't want to jinx you , but I've heard that big blocks are known to burn up starters especially if they have headers. They do make heat shields , though I don't know if there is one that would fit your model year suburban.

I'm curious if others have an opinion.

Yep, I have one on mine. It's actually a heat blanket that wraps around the starter and velcros to itself. Summitracing.com
