6" front drop
hi guys whats the best method to drop 6" the front? it's recomendable install 3" drop spindles and 3" drop springs?

you could..... but you may find that it's too low. you might as well have bags..at least you'll be able to air it up to get a jack under it!

^^^^^^ I agree, A static 6" I feel would be way too low for the street. I'm at 4" on my 97 and have to read the road waaay ahead to keep from bottoming out the front K-member. Oh.... Can't get a jack under there either.

get the spindles, and if you want to go lower, buy some bags, brackets, airline and a few fittings, run it off a schrader vale and your done. and bag the rear when you can afford it or whatever.

3" Spindles/2" Springs cut half a coil. I used 2.5" Spindles, 2" Springs and cut half a coil off of it. Mines about 5.5" Drop up front. But like stated before it is low, Dont plan on going over speed bumps. One of the reasons im bagging mine.

I just finished mine at 5 or so inches and I believe it's too low for practical use. I did a Beltech 3" spindle and cut off one coil. I haven't driven it yet due to further adjustments that I want to do. I think I'm going back to a stock coil and massage it from there. Maybe I'm just gettin too old for fun.

Bag it don't do such a low static drop it has been nothing but problems for me. Now I have to replace my LCA's from getting beat up by ever curb pot hole train track in town.

If this is your daily driver i wouldnt do it. Mine has 3 inch spindles and 3 inch springs, had to remove fender wells and LCA are about 2 inches off the ground. Its my weekend toy so its cool with me.

no it's my daily driver... only use the truck 1 or 2 times to go to school, you don't have pics of the lower control arms?

mine was lowered 6" with 3" spindles and springs, but the control arms and frame would scrape were every I would go, and the springs would fall out of the spring pockets every time I would jack up the truck causing alignment issue's, and here is a pic of my control arms

i have the same problem when you jack the truck up, you just have to make sure you align the springs up when you set the truck back down

What size tires you guys running? I had more clearance on my control arms then I did with my exhaust..

Since this seems to be a thread of admitting defeat. I'm guessing that mine is lowered by about 5", 3 in spindle and one coil cut off. But here's a pic of the can referrence. I haven't driven it since I got it together besides moving it in the driveway. I'm ordering some stock springs today and looking for some 3/16 to 1/4" wheel spacers as my 15x8 rallys are rubbin the lower control arm also. I'm also having trouble with the height left to right, but it started out that way before I cut the spring. I'm suspecting there is a difference in the left upper spring pocket as the spring is not setting flush at the top and the right spring may be week. Oh the tires are 255 60s in front and 275 60s in back.

my tires are 215 70 15s with a 15x7 rim with 4.125 bs no rubbing what so every, and my trans mission cross member has about the same clearance, which is bent and beat up from uneven road surface's and parking lot entrance's

I haven't had a problem dragging my LCA's but I went with 2.5'' spindles and 3'' springs . With 255/45/20 on the front it did buzz the inner fenders a few times with my 285 lb cousin in the passenger seat Haha Good Luck :chevy:

Don't mean to thread jack but do yhall think DJM 3 inch drop lower Control Arms (<<Link) and 2 inch drop coils would be ok? Also can you just run those lower tubular control arms and run the stock ones on top??

Nice thought on the DJM control arms but it looks like the spring pocket is lowered and may cause more problems. I have the Beltech because they came my way with other parts that I sold and bottom line I have about $25 invested in them. At this point I'd say the 2.5 spindles are far easier to work with.
Ssorry for the thread jack but I think it's all good info people are providing here. Six inches is a bit much for a driver. |

Its not that I think that 6" is too low for a daily...it's that I think its too low to drive it with no adjustability! I daily drive mine with 6-7" drop in the front, but if I need to raise it up for a dirt road, the garage, or to get a jack under it, it's soo much easier with bags...... just sayin I wouldnt waste my money buying springs!

so i'm reading I think is better install 3" spindles and 2" springs or maybe the 3" control arms and 2" springs but the control arms are too expensives haha
