BDS springs have a prety good rep for being a decent ride too

Either BDS or Tuff country EZ rides for sure

Next best would be superlift and skyjacker.

Moving over to the 4x4 forum to see if you get a better response.

For off the shelf I like Tuff Country. If you really want it smooth you go to longer springs,Rear shackle flip and front slider mounts.

SuperLift SuperRide

For a pack to be considered "soft" you need alot of leafs 6 or more..if there is only 4 or so leafs it's gonna be stiffer...the softer packs also have teflon inserts inbetween each leaf..usually..:uhmk:

I've been hearing talk of these slider mounts lately. Would you have a picture of this critter?

is this the same effect as having more coils in the same ride height on a coil spring?

I have had both Tuff Country and BDS and I think the Tuff Country wins for best ride. I will be taking my BDS off and going back to my Tuff Country soon.

I have TC on my K5 with ORD's grease-able poly bushings. Couldn't be happier. Nice soft ride, with decent flex.

Going to put them on my K20 work truck soon.

so, for a good ride on a 95% street truck the tuff country 4" kit will be best to go compared to a b52 front and shackle flip rear? what shocks are better for ride also nitro or hydro? im taking 8" springs off my truck and goin to a 4". i already have the steering arm.

If I'm not mistaken, this is because the leaves are thinner on leaf springs with more leaves.

As far as ride goes you should see a big improvement just from going from 8" to 4", that along with a good shock like Rancho RS9000X abjustables and you should see a world of difference.

If you dont mind paying a little extra for the BEST give Alcan springs a call. They are awesome.

Why are you getting rid of the 6" lift kit? At first I thought about going with a 6" kit and some 37" military take offs

its just a little to big for what i use it for. i was running the toyo mt in a 37x14.50 on a weld 15x12. it was just not a good driver and it liked to wander. i have since sold those wheels and tires and i now have some 35x12.50 bfg all terrains on weld 15x10 and it already drives better there is just quiet a bit of wheel gap. and i think it will drive even nicer with a less arched spring and be more balanced. i will post pics soon of my new setup.. for now i will post pics of what it looked like with the 37's

Re: Which lift kit has the softest ride

The cheapest way to get a great ride and only around 4inches of lift is to swap in rear springs from a truck from your era to the front. Most people call it a 52inch spring swap.
You have to move the from spring bracket forward almost to the bumper and the rear shackle mount also, I guarantee you will not find a lift spring and maybee a custom spring that will ride as nice, but and its a big but... you will have considerable amounts of body roll. I am going to do this on my 72 and also going to search around for a dually swaybar for the front to counteract these forces. may even install a rear one as well.

Re: Which lift kit has the softest ride

With the 52" spring swap can you run your standard shocks? I have been thinking about doing this to my 84.
