Rear axle/trailing arm disassembly tips?
 

My son and I have to remove this from the chassis of my '69 1/2-ton. I know to take the weight off of the springs by raising the frame. It's got no part of the body on it...no bed, etc. The brake lines have been removed; gotta remove the shocks and the track bar (Panhard rod). Ebrake cables are not an issue. All that remains a concern is the actual removal of the trailing arms, from their bolt-in mounting.

So, anything we should watch for when we take those bolts out?

Support the T-arm by spring and unbolt spring and let the arm to the ground; then just unbolt at pivot point(big socket).
Are you going with urethane or OEM replacement bushings?

Part of me says to go with urethane. I also have to replace my engine mounts, transmission mount, stabilizer bushings and mounts, so urethane is what I'm thinking. You have experience with one over the other, or a recommendation?

If you're running any kind of Power BBC, Stroker SBC consider the Urethane.
Pay close attention to instructions on the Trailer arm bushings - you have save the shell from old bush - it just stays in the arm.

I read that on the page from the catalog that Paddock put out. Only a dollar difference in price. Since the rubber has lasted 42 years, I may just stay with it. Thanks for the advice.

Like you said the rubber has last 40+ years..I just inherited the urethane. My son had a 72 SWB Stepside and was forced to move on(68 Camaro LSX power = $$$)
I drive a 67 Camaro BBC everyday...vintage iron is less taxing on the pocketbook, and no car payments spells parts' payment and 93 octane!
My 69 SWB fleetside will inherit the 427; the camaro getting 500+ inches(bought and paid for - lots of ebay deals over 3 years)
