gauage cluster swap question
hey guys i got a question for you all. i have a 1978 chevy k10 scottsdale that came from the factory with dummy lights and someone took and cut up the original gauge peices and trim to fit in some autometer autozone gauges and i dont like them. the question is, i have a set of full gauges out of my 79 that im building that are unmolested and worked until i removed them. could i simply unplug the old gauges from the 78 and plug in the gauage cluster for a 79 and have no problems and everything work

Re: gauage cluster swap question
You would most likely have to repin the harness and possibly change a few sensors

Re: gauage cluster swap question
I checked the LMC truck catalog and it shows the same printed circuit board for 78-80.
So that means you should just be able to plug it in and go.... IF the previous owner didnt hack up the harness when installing the auto meter stuff... reference: http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=108 EDIT: this covers the pinout question... You will likely need the correct sending units to match a truck with stock gauges |
Re: gauage cluster swap question
well the original harness is all good i guess the only thing ill have to get is all the sensors for the motor which i guess would be oil pressure sending unit water temp and the fuel gauge. and volts i guess
