Here is an article I read this morning.

http://www.infowars.com -- Earlier this week, market analysts warned that the price of gas may reach $5 by the end of summer. Now they are saying we could see that price by Memorial Day as the situation in Libya deteriorates

Its funny, because the oil coming out of Lybia doesn't even come here, it ends up in Europe. And its a 2% at that. Just another way for the oil cartels to make more money.

Exxon profit in 2010 was what 80 billion. (profit!!!!!) Its bull sheet, i really wish i didn't rely on it so much but business requires fuel.

I got sick watching the news today, Momar says we the US are in cahoots with binladin and putting something in lybians coffee to make them crazy. Anyone see that on NBC at 7?

I agree, its not the actual lack of oil but the percieved lack which gives them the power to soak us for more money.

Things are in the crapper over here right now. Kuwait is about the most stable because they actually spread the wealth around. The other guys are sweating bullets. Gadahfi has already killed a couple thousand people trying to put down the rebellion and is actually blaming Osama Bin Laden and even saying that someone is putting hallucinogens in his young people's coffees at the coffee shops. He can't believe they would rise up against him after only 40 years of being in power.

It's not even actual danger to the oil wells, I'm sure no country in their right mind wouldn't destroy their main source of income. Well, right mind..it is the mid-east.

Re: What Oil ship sank??

Gas went up because they want it to go up. Period.

They charge what they can get away with and will use any excuse as justification.

The only time they actually HAD an excuse to raise prices was when BP was spewing oil all over the gulf. That would have been a "justifiable" reason. The only reason they didn't use it was because of the emotional rage from everyone. They knew if they tried jacking prices up we would be out with our pitchforks...

If government taxes were removed from gas prices, if we drilled here in this country, if half the U.S. population drove cars that ran on imagination....if we did everything possible to create the best conditions for the oil market to stay competitive price-wise....gas would STILL be expensive because they can get away with it to a point and they know it. That's why it goes up 5 cents, 10 cents etc. they test the waters and get us use to the high prices.

But what do we do about it? the very fact that we are on this forum means that we aren't really helping the situation ;)

Well, nothing really, we all rely on gas to run our businesses and our hobbys. Someday soon we will run out of fossil fuels, and we will all be converting our trucks to solar power. Nice Solar panel tonneau cover!

Chances are I'll just be finishing my truck project when I'll have to take it all back out and replace it with solar haha

Re: What Oil ship sank??

We could have stopped the "extortion"...
I read a couple of years ago that there is over 2 trillion barrels of untapped oil, 1000' deep in the Rocky Mountains.
"Thats 8 times more than Saudi Arabia
18 times more than Iraq
21 times more than Kuwait
22 times more than Iran
500 times more than Yeman"
Thats not counting other sources such as Alaska,N. Dakota,S.Dakota(Bakken)

Oil isn't running out anytime soon, that statement's a fraud and everyone knows it and denies it. That's like saying the Sun is burning out...well of course it is, but not today, tommorrow, or next 200 years...

There is more than enough oil in the world, there are not more than enough oil producers.

Alternative fuels/sources would be great if they were just that...alternatives. But I fear when a break through happens our government will DEMAND that we stop using fossil fuels, either through law or through ridiculous taxes.

We can start by kicking out a goverment that only has their agenda in mind, whether they are republicans or democrats. We need people who know exactly what the Constitution is and what it's like to actually have to get up everyday and work for a living and deal with BS like oil prices.

There's some "selective memory" practice going on in the US today. It was less than 3 years ago, May 2008 when gas/diesel prices were much higher than they are right now. Diesel was over $5.00 a gal in many parts of the USA. I was paying $4.89 locally. Gas was over $4.00 also.
Oil companies said it was necessary at the time.
