lowering
Hey all. Have a 65 short stepper. All springs front and rear (coils) are original, so after 46 years i want to level out front to rear, now it has a rake, will 3 inch lowering springs do the trick or do I need more for the years of settling? Oh will be replacing only the rear spring. Thanks in advance Mike

Re: lowering
Might want to replace the fronts, too. Mine are stock, but have more sag than a set of cut springs.

So if you want to drop it 3 additional inches,... I would get a 4" drop spring. Here'a a good visual: http://www.earlyclassic.com/Tech.asp...=Stance+Photos |

For what it is worth, cuz I am no expert.
If your looking for ride quality and driveability, I would go with 2" or 2.5" dropped spindles ( depends on where you buy) and then 1.5 or 2" drop springs on the front. this way your not changing the front suspension geometry as radical. in the rear I would just go with some bags, you can do the bags with shraders and some hose for a little bit more than straight drop springs. this will allow for towing in the future too. You will also need to think about replacing bushings on the front and rear when you do the suspension. |
