Trick to adjusting dual headlights?

Im having some problems as too adjusting my dual headlights on my 85 c10. I pulled the bezel off and tried to adjust them with brand new adjusters. but I cant get them to stay on for one, and also both adjuster screws end up angled down because of the springs. and because of that, they are about 1/2in to 3/4in to low, in return.. I cant get the bezels back on. Is there something im missing here as too spring placement? I mean theres got to be some trick to this??

I just got my truck so i can drive it at night, as far as the license plate and tailights etc. :metal:

85, not sure if this will help in your situation, but when I rebuilt my 84 I couldn't adjust the lights to well either. After some trial and error (mostly error) I tried replacing the headlight buckets and that fixed it. The buckets were rusty so I blasted them which made the metal to thin\weak. Whichever way you go, new parts or stock parts, take the buckets out and grease the pads they sit on, it helps alot. jim

Yeah i was thinking about going to the Halogen housings, mainly for the new buckets.

But your right, thats probably the way ill go. I looked at some pictures in my lmc truck catalog and noticed that, were the headlight adjuster screws hook on to the headlight buckets had allmost completely broken off..

Long story shore im going to try to order some halogen housings today, thatll set my night driving back a week or soo, but my lower lights are burnt out anyways so what the heck! why not have some brighter lights:metal:

Do you remember how you put the springs on? Kinda having some trouble figuring that one out.

Getting halogen housings won't fix your problem if your buckets are rusting apart. The newer headlights still need to sit in that bucket with the spring and two screws. If the spring hook area is rusting apart, all you can really do is get new/used buckets. There's really no way around it.

I welded nuts onto washers and that onto the rad support that worked out good

I moved my low beams to the lower spot
less angle
the light buckets have notches to prevent wrong bulb put in.....bend that,
and bend the steel around the ajuster screw tighter to hold it

Try pushing the headlight in the direction you want it to go and then tighten the screw. This way you wont be putting as much strain on the plastic piece and you are less likely to strip it. I had the same problem with mine but I replaced the screws and the plastic piece and it took care of it, but the way I stripped out the ones on my truck and camaro was by not pushing on the light. If they still go wherever they want then you need to replace the adjusters again and I would get new springs and the buckets so you can take care of it all at one time and not have to worry about it anymore once you get them set.
Good luck.

I re tapped the screws on the plastic pieces to work with a nylock nut, and put a nut and a washer on the back side of the core support, no more tripped out plastic for me lol.

thanks guys, I just ordered some of the LMC truck halogen lights that come with new buckets.

Ill probably try to get them adjusted with the plastic pieces, but if i cant get that to work ill go with what you said.
