question about my new old C10!!

well fellas! i have the C10 bug!! I haven't even finished my 68, and I decide to sstart on a 87 C10... so heres my story....

I have a C10 that is a 1ton that i picked up from my old mans construction company, the truck is solid and in great shape(cab wise) now I want to make a short bed and I already have a frame and a extra cab. and bed. This is where I have the question, about 15 minutes before I show up to get the frame/ cab, the owner sold the rear end.! d'oh!! so now I have a complete donor truck, but no rear end. My question is, Can I use the old rear end that I took out of my 68 C10? even though it's a 6 lug, I was thinking of just getting new axles and all for the rear to make it 5 lug... what do yall think? would this work? or should I look for a different rear end? thanks for all the help fellas.

The 68 mounts totally different you would have to weld on leaf spring mounts, and i think the 68 rear end is going to be a little bit narrower (not a problem if you run big meats)

it can be done its just how much time and $$$ your wanting to spend to do it. probably money ahead to hit a junk yard and find a 5 lug 1/2 rear end they are a dime a dozen around here anyways

yeah thats what I'll probably just end up doing... now let me ask, will a 88-98 rear end work? also does anyone know someone who might have one in the houston area that would want close to nothing for it? hahaha

Its coil spring and narrower. I would look for another donor.
