Ok guys, got a frame swap question...
I found a guy down the road that is selling a '73-'87 Suburban 3/4 ton 4x4 and I was thinking about getting it and doing a frame swap under my '63 LWB Fleet side. Anybody know if it would fit or would the frame be too long to put under my pickup?
Thanks:chevy: |

Read here....
http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=452192 There is a fair amount of work involved. I've done it on a 2wd using a pickup frame and would never do it on a 2wd again. If I were wanting a '63-'66 4x4, I would just mount the 4x4 running gear under the original frame. It is still a fair amount of work, and you will need some fabrication equipment and skills. |

also I think the sub wheelbase is 129.5 , your lwb is 127

I made my own brackets when I was doing this swap for the 65. The brackets bolt into the stock location on the 65 and use the 73-87 springs. We ended up going a different route so I believe we have the brackets here if you want them. I know we have the fronts and the rear. We made both shackle flip and regular. I know where the shackle flip ones are, I would have to look for the other ones. You can have them if you want.. just pay the shipping...

When you said they use the 73-87 springs, are you talking about leaf springs? |
Re: Ok guys, got a frame swap question...

Ok here ya go, they are still on the truck and outside so they have some surface rust.
The first two are the front bracket it has the spring hanger as well as the mount for the radiator support. You may have to adjust the radiator support as I never had the front clip on the truck with these installed. For the rear of the front spring you will need to get the piece from a 73 - 87 truck. Four rivets each side and then place these in position on your truck, they should be able to be found at any local junk yard. We had some but they may have got tossed as we did a scrap metal run not to long ago, I will look if you want these. http://www.greatlakes4x4.com/images/...brackets/1.jpg http://www.greatlakes4x4.com/images/...brackets/4.jpg This pic is the front hanger for the rear spring http://www.greatlakes4x4.com/images/...brackets/2.jpg This is shackle flip for the rear, I think i may still have the ones me made for the non flip but they may have went with the scrap metal. Again I can look if you are interested. http://www.greatlakes4x4.com/images/...brackets/3.jpg |
