Lil Pixie, the 57 build
4 Attachment(s)
Well, here goes, the 57 p/u I acquired 2 1/2 weeks ago. Sold my last rod, and within 2 hours it filled the hole in the shop. My gf named her Pixie, and it stuck. Good solid cab and tins all around except for the one rear fender that looks like a combine ran over it and the guy jumped on it to straighten it out. All in all a good solid piece. Wanted to build a gasser but it would have blown the budget to do so, thanks to UPS and customs. So I went the standard Camaro clip after throwing out the Volare clip that was butchered in it. The best part of the deal was I said I would take it off the guy only if he threw in the 454 at the back of his shop. Turns out to be a rectangle port crate motor. I was trying to decide on where to put it. Living room, or den? Good score for sure. Anyway enough babble, more pics, right? Thanks for all the info, you guys are awesome, great site. Lots more pics to come.

Been a busy week. Got all the front end together, painted pretty with new parts. Moved to the back to take the required 10" out of the frame. Temporarily hung the Camaro rear. Waiting on some parts will get back to her tomorrow. Taking the night off. First one in 3 weeks. Hope all your builds are going well.

Re: Lil Pixie, the 57 build
Nice job on shortening the frame.
Are you going to put fish plates over the joints? Kim |

Re: Lil Pixie, the 57 build
I know they are only for mock-up but I love the Pontiac Rally II's on the sub-frame I just bought a set to use on my truck...
my truck uses a Pontiac engine though so it makes a little more sense.. Awesome start! keep them pictures coming |

Re: Lil Pixie, the 57 build
Looking good. Think your dog will have enough torque to move it?

A bit of a slow day, feeling a little rough after the 10pm thrash last night. Dropped the cab back on just to see what it looks like. Ummm badass comes to mind. Super happy with the stance. Found another 454 last night so things are coming together nicely. Will have to do a cnotch, no biggie. Hope all your builds are going well.

Finished installing the cnotch. Made her all purdy like. Move onto rear seals cleaning out the diff and getting it ready to put in. Brake lines and cylinders etc. Thursday. She'll have a back end by the weekend, then just to decide what motor to use. The 305/r4 combo that came with her or the 500 horse 454/th400 in one of my other rides. Many sleepless nights to come I am sure. Hope all you builds are going well.

Well its been a crazy crazy couple of weeks. Painting a buddy's race bike, Vegas, sick dog ( she is fine and a happy 13year old shop dog, best dog ever), and still got some work done to the truck. Got the chassis painted, rear end painted and installed. Put in my bed supports, or 3 of them anyhow, cause the last guy who owned it cut of the last ten inches of the frame to try to make it into a short box. Ran all my brake lines, installed the new motor mounts, and dropped the engine and tranny in for mock up. I did not know that I put the mounts in the wrong place till I tried to drop the motor in. Aparently big block and small block mounts go in different places. I know, I know, should have just asked you guys. Hope all your builds are going well.

Well afyer way too many hours to install the motor mounts wrong 3 times, finally got the 454 siting where it should. Mounted the trans up, the new headers set in place, and the drive shaft shortened and installed. All this just to see where my steering sits. All in all a good weekend of work. Hope all your builds are going well.
