Custom Interiors

We have all seen nice custom interiors in the older year pick-up trucks, just wanted to see some ideas for 73-87. Resto, leather, tweed ect... any and all.

Not truly a custom design change but I revisited the interior to retain the OEM look and switched the color from red/burgundy to black: new floor carpeting, reupholsered the bench with two different vinyl textures (one to mimic the panels and the other to resemble leather), carpeted headliner, walnut steering wheel, door panels, seat belts, sunvisors, armrests, etc.

Hey 86' very nice example. Im going to have my original seat redone. Hell... my local shop quoted $350 max for fixin the foam and new leather like vinyl he used in my Dads street rod that looks great. You would have more than that in a stock cover and stock foam from any aftermarket company. Ill post pics.

Re: Custom Interiors

Looks like a ralley wheel out of a 69 Camaro, different horn button but thats what the wheel is out of. Lots of aftermarket companies make them. I think GM used them in other cars as well right around 69-70

mine is not finish'd either but I've add 4 captian's chairs, made a console for front and rear, my RodDoor's door pannel's should ship today, and I have all the plastic trim for around the glass, a tach dash w/white gauge face's. now all I need is new carpet and a dash pad. I think a sewn dash pad like Stitch does will look best with door pannels and white gauge's, more modern look'n.

Not quite done, still have the dash and guages to do, but close

Classic Parts of America has both Bow Tie and GMC horn caps.
Summit Racing has Bow Tie cap. Either company has the best prices but Summit will ship free with small handling fee. Classic will ship free for orders $300 or greater. Keep in mind you will need to purchase a steering wheel installation kit as well. $30 more if I remember correctly. Extremely easy to install just make sure you use a steering wheel puller for removing your existing wheel.

I paid $600 for my bench materials and labor. Included vinyl material, new top foam, new burlap material under the seat (so bench wires/springs don't cut the bench foam), new hog rings. Although vinyl squeaks a little, the sound of the engine or stereo drowns out most of the irritating noise.

Additional pics for your reference. Also replaced all of the interior bulbs with LED bulbs. Burns much brighter and more importantly more cooler. Check out our dome light bulb retainer (remove plastic outer cover). If you're using a conventional bulb, changes are the reflective back plating is a little melted. At least mine was. Hence the change to LEDs.
