Need help selecting rear breaks

There are sooo many choices out there so I really don't have a clue where to start and what to select. I am using a 12 bolt from a 67 c10. I don't nessasarliy need a big break or a crazy expensive break for the back. I was thinking maybe an 11"? Do most of you get ebreak? Esthetics is important to me but stopping is of course more important.

Where is the best place to buy breaks?

Also to change to disc in the back do the axels need to be removed?

Just a note... Don't know if it matters but I will be running 22" in the rear.

11" brakes would contradict this....

11" discs would be lost in a 22" wheel asthetically. The OE 13" drums would fill more of that void. 11" discs would seem under sized for a 22" wheel.

I am running the Mcgauhys 13" all the way around - you can check them out in my build thread. I haven't got it on the street yet so I can't comment on performance yet. But they look good - haha

Nathan... I was going to ask you the next time we spoke. I dont know if I am too keen on machining my axels but we can chat about them.

Machining the axles isn't too bad. The OD of the axle flange has to be turned down, and the OD of the nose cone (the part that would slide through the center of the drum on your factory rear brakes). It should only be in the $75 range tops at any competent machine shop.

If you don't necessarily want the 13" brakes, but want an upgrade, look into Captainfab here on the forum. He makes some nice conversion brackets for rear disc.
