Front Air Deflectors

Where did you guys purchase yours? I'm looking to get one for my Suburban. Also wondering if there is a difference in quality.

Re: Front Air Deflectors

lower air dam or the hood air deflector?

I have a Lund hood protector on my son's 86 truck. It keeps the hood from getting pitted, but does not stick up so high that it is unsightly.

Lower. LMC calls them air deflectors.

Don't put a 4X4 air deflector on a lowered truck!! The increased drag is HUGE!! I went back to a 4X2 and the drag was reduced.

It's going on the 3/4 ton 4x4 Suburban in my signature. I just wanted some input on where people are buying them.

Re: Front Air Deflectors

On my truck yes. At 70 MPH, I could definately notice the drag. All the air was being pushed around the truck. Some air needs to go under the truck. The 4X4 version is taller than a 4X2. On a 4X4, the larger deflector looks great but really does not work like on a 4X2.

I tried to put one on recently and could only get one end and two more bolts in it. I wound up chucking it it was so far off. I'm looking for another brand

Tong Yang; so it could be "branded" Tong Yand, OTN, or Ding Chang depending on who you buy it from. It was too narrow, didn't bow in the center to follow the bumper and MOST holes we couldn't even get close

I got mine from the dealer 2 years ago. About 45 bucks if I remember correctly. It wasn't more than 80 though.

Re: Front Air Deflectors

So far I've looked at Brothers, Goodmark, LMC, Classic Industries, and Classic Truck Parts and LMC seems to be the only one with the tow hook cutouts.

I think that when we used to replace them from GM may years ago they came with no cutouts. You had to do it yourself. On the back there were lines to follow.

That was what the dealer told me when I bought mine. I didn't need the cutouts because I have a 2WD. I don't know if there were lines on the back, though.

If it helps any, here is the part #'s on them. Appears the one with cutouts is discontinued but the solid one is still around. The foot note makes me think you just cut it out as needed, so no doubt there would be a scribe line on the back to show you where to cut.

*edit*
Went and looked up a 78 model, and this is what it shows. For some reason my book does not pull anything up for lower deflectors beyond this.
