Rear Defogger in a K5
Was the electric rear window defogger option offered in the K5 Blazer?

Re: Rear Defogger in a K5
I'm inclined to say no just because I've never seen one, I'm somewhat older, and have always loved the K5's. But if I stepped out on that absolute "NO", then someone would post a picture of one they've had since new that still works. But I'm still leaning to the NO.;)

Re: Rear Defogger in a K5
I'd say no on the fact that with the window sliding up and down it would wear out the grid on the inside of the window after a couple of years of use. Plus the wires leading to the glass would flex and break where it attaches. Heck, even on rear windows that only lift up like Trailblazers, newer tahoe's and burbs the lug that is soldered to the glass break way too easy.
I think Suburbans from 73-91 with barn doors had them as an option in the later years. Don't quote me on that though! |
Re: Rear Defogger in a K5
I knew it was an option on the subs but was not sure if Barn Door or both it and T-gates.
I did no think the K5s ever had it but would be a great option if not for the rub factor. |
Re: Rear Defogger in a K5
Never a option for the K5. GM just never did it on Blazers or Subs with the Tailgate. Barn Doors were offered though. Ford did offer them in the Bronco starting in 78 so the system did work with a roll down glass.

Re: Rear Defogger in a K5
My 90 burb with tailgate has the rear window defogger in it and I have seen numerous 86-91 K5's up here with it as well.

BLE is your Burb originally from Alaska? Curious if there was a HD cold weather option or something of the sort.

Re: Rear Defogger in a K5
It was originaly sold up here. I am the second owner of it. It started life out as a scottsdale model with the only factory options consisting of a rear auxillary heater, power tailgate window and rear window defroster as well as intermitant wipers.
I have since installed all factory accessories like power windows, door locks, and mirrors. Tilt column, cruise control. Repainted the interior a bahama blue. Added rear interior trim in the cargo area. Custom bucket seats with a center console/jumpseat. Overhead console and just finished upgrading all lights to L.E.D. & HID |
