Will these wheels work on My truck?

I have a 65 SB Stepper that has been lowered about 4" in the rear and 3 1/2" in the front. My buddy has a set of 6 bolt wheels that are 17 x 9's with a 4 1/2" backset that he wants to sell me but they don't have tires on them so we can't even try them for size. Will these fit my truck decently with say a 285 55 17 or something close or will the tires rub? My running gear is all stock right now ie rear end and front control arms still drum/drum.

I've searched quite a bit but just can't seem to find the exact answer I'm looking for. Its the 9" width that scares me a bit.

Thx
M5

May be a little tight in the front but that will depend a lot on the tire you pick. I have 20X8.5 with 5 1/2 inches of back spacing and the disc brake swap that makes the front a little wider and they are fine.

Bolt the bare wheels on your truck and take measurements, that's the only surefire way to know.

I have 15x8-1/2 slots with 3-1/2" b.s. on the back of my truck with 33 -12.5 rear Goodyears. That means my rims have 5" front offset, yours have 4-1/2".

My tires just barely clear the inner wheel well lip, I actually had to roll the lip flatter for clearance. And I widened the bed 4".

I think you will have issues with the tires rubbing the wheel well lip.

But, like I said previously, the only way to be sure is to bolt the wheels to your truck and measure clearances. I use a 4 foot level once the wheel is bolted up and then measure to the nearest front, rear and top obstructions. Using these dimensions and the size data for whatever tires you plan to use you should be able to calculate what will work.

What size tires are you running front and rear?

Thx M5
