Brake issue #3567.8
 

Im irritated....
So I redid my brake setup when I dropped Buttercup....
78 front calipers, dust shields and hoses. CPP powerbrake setup with CPP front rotors. New front lines, and a few others here and there.
SO.... Its been working great for awhile now. Driving the truck almost everyday unless the cats and dogs are pouring cause lets face it 66 wiper technology sucked. (which is there a different switch or motor I can run)
Saturday I pull in the driveway after driving it all week and the brake pedal goes to the floor. Stops the truck...but the pedal wont return, pull up on the pedal and and we are rolling again. So I shut the truck off pump the brakes and the master holds pressure. Turn the truck on after one pump same thing.... To the floor and the pedal wont return.
I have already had to replace the master once because of a leaky rear seal.

I know someone has dealt with this before.... a little help would be great

Sounds like your return spring broke. Check under the dash on the brake pedle arm, there should be a spring that pulls the pedle back up.don't know why it goes all the way to the floor that sounds like something else altogether but check the sping it should still return.

Check your front rubber brake lines near the caliper. They can collapse over time and cause the fluid not to return to the MC and release the brakes.

had the same exact same thing happen after half a day driving myself crazy i pulled the booster and found the internal spring to be broken, broke the booster down and replaced the spring from an old spare unit i had and problem solved

SOOOO after searching the truck over for leaks.... I called the manufacturer of the Master Cylinder and they instructed me of a little test.... block all the ports on the master and try to push the pushrod in. If its hard its NOT the master. So I tryed it... and it it was hard. I asked them about what type of master it was so I could just go to the part store and get a rebuild kit... the cover gasket had also been leaking.... but all they would tell me is its based on a corvette Master cylinder. After searching a little Its basically a 1970 vette master. So I went to the part store and picked one up... other than the original being ported on both sides its the same. Tossed that one on there and TADA fixed. Just in time for the autofair. Which was great other than breaking down 3 times.... because my great AUTOZONE radiator cap wouldnt release pressure and kept blowing the top hose off the water neck. The last time I was on the back side of the speedway sitting in traffic... folks werent to happy but of well. Picked up an AC delco cap so hopefully that will solve that issue.
