Maybe a crazy idea...
...but has anybody that's built a custom truck ever put IRS out back? I don't know what cars it could be sourced from, but in my mind it would be great for a one-off custom.

Re: Maybe a crazy idea...
Independent Rear Suspension. Member Frizzle Fry was putting together a 55, I believe, that was on a C4 suspension. Not sure of any other year vehicles that would work, but I'm sure there are several.
EDIT: It's a '61...here's a link to the thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=179289 |

Expedition would probably be close and some of those U think had a 8.8 witch is pretty strong and a lot cheapper than a C4 or C5. Jim

Independent rear suspension. I seem to recall that Jaguar had a setup on their older cars.

Re: Maybe a crazy idea...
One from a C4 Corvette would be one of the easiest to adapt to the frame. The Expedition IRS would be worth a look, but I'm a keep GM all GM kind of guy.

Re: Maybe a crazy idea...
I believe that Porter Built has a complete rear frame section made specifically for the Corvette C4/C5 IRS to be installed. I have seen several in the build threads, I wish I could afford to do it...

Re: Maybe a crazy idea...
Chassis by Aaron built a 67 with an IRS which they named "The Show" It was a complete chassis build, and completely over the top. Alot of the buildup was covered in Truckin Magazine, and it was featured not once but twice on the cover. First in bare steel, and then a few months later painted and fully finished. Heres a link to one of the articles> LINK

IRS....YES!! All the time. See it lots in the custom truck scene. Jag or Vette systems usually.

Re: Maybe a crazy idea...
I'd like to tie an IRS guy to the back of my truck and drive a few miles!.....OK, sorry, that wasn't very PC or nice.
