Slight Rake
Past week I've been lowering my 1980 c10 and the front only has drop springs and the front dropped around like 2-3". For the back i used Western Chassis Hangers and Belltech Drop Shackles, but it did not lower my truck 4" in the back, so there is a slight rake, not real aggressive but i would like it to be level. Im curious as to what i can do to lower it more in the back just a little bit.
http://i55.tinypic.com/2rc0lue.jpg Note: My driveway is a little uneven so the back right now is a bit lower in that picture then usual. If you guys want i can snag a picture of what my rear looks like (placement of hangers and shackle) |
Re: Slight Rake
I like it just the way it sits right now.

I have one more question, my tires rub in the front when i turn real hard, the tires are 235/75/15 would a thinner sidewall fix that issue? |

Re: Slight Rake
Yeah i will most likely buy a set of xxx/60/15 tires next time i go to NTB for.

Re: Slight Rake
i think 295-50-15's would look killer on the back. Somethin quiet a bit shorter and skinnier on the front would make it look even better. just my .02

Re: Slight Rake
I went from a 255x60x15 in the front to a 225x60x15... looks very small now.. not sure how I like it...

Re: Slight Rake
i will probably stick with 235 tire for the front, i would love a wide ass tire for the back, but im not sure how big i can go on an 8" rim. i was looking at 275 for the back.
my buddy gave me a 2 15x8 and 2 15x10 corvette rallys, but they are all rusty and ugly :/ |
Re: Slight Rake
Try sanding them right down and painting them corvette rallys. They might turn out okay! And im pretty sure a 295 would fit on a 8" rim. 295's would be 12.7 inches wide. Thats pretty wide, while 275's are 11 inches, so they're both pretty close.

Re: Slight Rake
You can take out the overload leaf and that will lower it the thickness of the overload leaf. you'll just have to watch you don't overload it after that.

Re: Slight Rake
I think i'll just move the front spring hangers up and drill new holes for the bolts, hopefully this wont effect my pinion angle much.

Re: Slight Rake
here is a better picture of the rake

Re: Slight Rake
I would just remove a leaf.

Re: Slight Rake
The 295 / 50 / 15 would look great on a 8 inch wheel and even better on a 10 inch wheel . The rake looks fine leave it but thats just me and others we dont have to live with it .

Re: Slight Rake
Wow somebody from my area ! Looks good , take the overload leaf out and get a set of caltrac bars , they will keep the tires planted on the ground ,

Re: Slight Rake
Caltracs are expensive and im in between jobs right now :(, im just gonna move the hanger up a bit this Saturday.

Re: Slight Rake
I doubt you'll have any issues by removing the overload leaf. It appears to me that those front coil springs lowered it around 4 inches.

Re: Slight Rake
On my beltech hangers for my c30 I drilled a second hole for the spring eye. This got me about 5/8" more at the axle!
