Wheel Fustration 3/4 ton & 1 ton

Newer to the forum mostly reading. I have built and owned 3/4 ton sqares since I was 16. (45 now). I am finally building my dream truck a single wheel 4x4 CCSB. I have alway been a fan of 16.5 / 8 lug wheels but tires are near impossible to find any more. All the newer style wheels to me look to modern day for the old square body trucks. If you have had similar problems let me know what you did ? I would like to see some pictures of different combinations on trucks. Prior to spending money on wheels and tires. Thanks for your help.

I just ran 16's instead of 16.5's. The difference is minimal, and there are a LOT of good wheel choices. Although, I think my next set of wheels/tires will be some 16.5 white wagon wheels and a big old set of swampers. I love that look, it's classic. Here's a few of my truck showing its old wheels and tires and its new ones.

The first set were some unknown aluminum wheel. They came on the truck when I bought it, and I love them. They weren't wide enough for the next tires I ran. The second set of wheels are Ion Alloy 16x10's. I got all 4 of them shipped to my door for $500.03 flat. If you want, you could always go with a set of AR Outlaw II's. They always look good on a 4x4 along with wagon wheels.

Are you 2wd or 4wd? A lot of guys run old Weld Super Single wheels, they are 16.5x9.75.

I like Alcoa classics if 2wd and the Welds if 4wd.

I just went with newer model 16" rims and 265/75R16 tires. I loved my stock 8.25 x 16.5 rims, but couldn't find any tires I liked in the size I wanted.

my favorite set up is a 2.5" lift with 33's I have always used a 16.5x9.75 wheel. But other than swampers tires are hard to find. To keep a classic look I will stay with outlaw II's. or Weld super single or Typhoons. Thanks for all the input.

GVCHEVY I do tend to agree with you about the wheels that you can get today, they look way to modern for our trucks. I went with the 2002 and up aluminum wheels for my 3/4 ton. I think they look good on our squares.

Those wheels look great. I want to run a 33/12.50/16.5 tire availability sucks. 33/12.50/16 x 10" wheel selection is limeted. I have a set of 16.5x9.75 Outlaw II's. The BFG 33/12.50/16.5's A/T are still availabls and wear great I will probably use my old stand by's and buy new BFG A/T.
