Pictures of Chevrolet factory hood ornaments
 

I own a 69 swb and 67 to 72 pickups did not have hood ornaments. I think the later rectangular units with the Chevrolet script in the middle are downright classy. I don't know how many different styles there are of these, so I'm asking for some pictures to guide me as to which I would rather put on my truck.

Thank you 78 Chevyrado, the first one with the Chevrolet script is the one I will probably put on my truck. Looks like I'm going catalog surfing. I thought I remembered them being rectangular instead of square but, square is fine. Were they mounted alone or were they accompanied by a chrome strip down the center of the hood?

Off of my old 82 silverado. Truck has been gone 20 years and I found this in a box about 6 months ago. I miss that truck.

I have a feeling that 73-80 style ornament will be a better fit on your 69 hood as well. The 73-80 hoods have a wide rib up the center with a flat top (very similar to the rib on the earlier year hoods like your 69). While the 81-up hoods have a more pointed rib (notice how the base of those 81-87(91) ornaments is V-eed up in the center to match).

They were mounted alone. I don't think any of these trucks ever had a chrome strip down the center of the hood.

MY 76 had a Mack bulldog on it installed by the original owner. I also put one on my 79.

If the truck breaks down, the bulldog runs and gets help.
