70 chevy grille question
 

ok im new to the forums here but here goes im currently in the process of a project , i have a 1970 chevy swb stepside that im in the middle of. i have the original front grille that was in ok shape but was not perfect so i started hammering out the small dents and then used some filler.i then sprayed it with primmer filler and sealed it , my question is this have i made a huge mistake in spraying it , can i chrome plate over this,can i use this spectra chrome , or should i take off all the primmer and start to polish it some how . thanks for any info tom
