porportion valve blues
can any one in laymans terms expain to me how and what this does. Do I realy need it?
Thank you, |
Re: porportion valve blues
Not an expert, but it regulates the pressure between the front and rear brake assemblies. Trucks especially need them since they are so light on the rear. If braking was the same front to rear, the rears would lock up every time.

Re: porportion valve blues
GM spent millions upon millions of dollars developing brake systems you'll fing no unneeded parts in them
for a great understanding of how these brake systems work nothing compares to haveing and reading a factory service manual. most vendors carry nice reproduction manuals at very cheap prices for all the excellent technical info they contain// sort of an oldschool way we used to learn |
Re: porportion valve blues
Here's a lil article that explains them pretty well:

Re: porportion valve blues
If your having problems with yours like I had with mine I would just throw the thing away and buy a new one. I bought one on EBay for $60 with the lines that go to the master cylinder. It made a massive difference in how my brakes work, it was about a ten minute job, not counting bleeding the brakes. Well worth the money. The same company, "POL" has some good prices on hoses, booster, master cylinders, etc. And the shipping was fast and free.

Re: porportion valve blues
it s pretty much a preset valve that sends 70% of the braking force to the front and 30% to the back. in simple terms. we have the lowest prices on the net.
